With its holistic corporate concept of product, technology and service, the Styrian soft drink manufacturer Grapos is one of the European market leaders in the field of open beverage dispensing for the hotel and catering industry.

The innovative family business has been proving for 55 years that environmental consciousness can be combined with financial success​. By using Grapos Softdrinks, gastronomers save 44% CO2 and up to 40% energy for cooling drinks.

In addition, the ecological footprint of Grapos beverages is 90% lower than that of comparable bottled drinks. This makes the company Europe’s number one in the postmix sector in terms of sustainability.

Grapos’s holistic concepts include more than 150 different postmix syrups for professional beverage dispensing as well as dispensing technology and service, all from a single source.

Six product lines offer the right beverage and serving concept for every occasion: classic still or sparkling soft drinks, vitamin-enriched functional drinks with zero added sugars, certified organic lemonades, and, as the first company in Europe, pure organic juices sustainably served from the tap.

All Grapos syrups come in handy, 100% recyclable bag-in-boxes. Since a 10kg bag-in-box is the equivalent to 12 crates of common 0.2L beverage bottles, the use of Grapos syrups saves storage capacity and CO2 intensive beverage transports.

The company was founded in 1963 as a syrup production and trade by Friedrich and Theresia Zmugg in Graz. From the onset, the husband and wife team focused on the postmix technology. In 1982, today’s Managing Director KR Wolfgang Zmugg took over the small family business with 183 customers in the surrounding area.

Under the name GRAPOS – which stands for Grazer Postmixsirup – he has expanded the company into Europe’s leading postmix specialist.

Since the mid-nineties, GRAPOS has focused on the development, production and assembly of dispensing systems for the catering industry. The GRAPOS brand SCHANKOMAT is today an international benchmark for computer-controlled dispensing systems.

In 1999, the company moved operations to its current location in Lannach. This remains Grapos’ only production location and the most modern postmix syrup production plant in Europe.

In 2012, Grapos commissioned the University of Technology in Graz to undertake a comprehensive study to evaluate the ecological footprint and CO2 load of Grapos beverages, according to the Sustainable Process Index. ​Today, sustainability is an important part of the company’s USP.
